Baccarat Rules

Baccarat, often referred to as the ‘younger brother’ of the famous table game Blackjack, should perhaps be called the older brother as it appeared about two centuries before blackjack. Baccarat however hadn’t been known in the United States until the beginning of the 20th century and hadn’t gained its popularity until the middle of the 20th century.
Three variants of online baccarat are available for players: baccarat chemin de fer, baccarat banque, and punto banco. The most widely spread one is now punto blanco, in other words North American Baccarat. Mini-baccarat, which is actually the most favorite variant in casinos internationally, is a kind of punto blanco. Nowadays it is in fact quite hard to find a casino that offers a usual version of baccarat, mini-baccarat has nearly become the only variant played in casinos all over the world.
The basic differentiating feature between baccarat and mini-baccarat is the minimal betting limit. At online casinos with common baccarat the minimal wager limit usually begins at $100 or even more, whereas the minimal limit at mini-baccarat is usually close to $5. The rules and the low house edge is precisely the same. Besides, mini-baccarat is played considerably quicker. The game is aimed at getting a hand value as near to 9 as possible. A gambler first chooses the sum for making a stake on that hand. As soon as he chose the stake and the betting option – a player, a dealer, or a tie – the game starts. First, the dealer and each gamer get two cards. According to the game rules, the “10” cards as well as the face cards are counted as zero. No hand can be given more three cards.
If you have chosen a player bet, you’ll get even money, that is, if you put on stake $15 and the gambler won, you’ll be given $15. If you have chosen a dealer bet, you’ll get even money as well, but in this case the casino will collect a 5 % cut. In spite of the cut, there is a mathematical edge on the dealer bet. A tie bet is paid “eight to one” however a gambler will lose the low casino advantage while betting on a tie.
The house advantage may differ; it depends on a definite house and the deck amount during the game of baccarat. A casino using 8 deck shoes comparing to a casino using 1 deck influences the probability and casino edge. The less the number of decks is, the bigger the casino advantage is on player and tie betting options. Those searching for big odds with plain rules should certainly choose baccarat.
